The proposal consists of an open-air space including working tables as well as a library for the storage of documents. The tables can be utilised for a variety of different needs that necessite a simultaneous use of free wifi Internet access. The library material can be available to the visitors and also visitors that remain in the place for a period of time can store some of their printed documents in the empty slots. The open-air Office promotes a simple working environment for professionals, students, graphic designers, artists or architects: an urban space where they can work temporarily for a few hours or days. The facility includes 48 tables, 100 stools, 48 working lamps, a 9 meters library, a printer and a wifi connection to the Internet.
A usual working space shifts to a courtyard of a run down neoclassical building within the city. It’s presented as an open-air space, a temporarily formed sitting space or a reading area. The open-air office acts as a meeting point and enhances the collaboration between visitors who stay there in order to work for various purposes. It forms a work environment in a useless and overdrawn space within the Athenian city fabric. Apart of many planned and unplanned projects that will take place during the operation of the open-air office, an additional programme will be encouraged including the reading of some specific articles related to the general idea of today’s working environment and the new immaterial labor conditions. The open-air office would work then as a mechanism of producing documents which relate to some texts. Some documents to the nowadays experience of immaterial labor are available to the visitors. The printed materials are collected for future edition.
The open-air office hosts the Info point of Remap 3, consisting of information regarding the organisation and other subjects while it is constructed by IKEA furniture. The design is developed in the outdoor courtyard of the run down neoclassical building on Giatrakou Street 2, at Avdi square.
