The Breeder Playroom is delighted to host Kalup Linzy in his first solo exhibition in Athens. Linzy will present a new video - Conversations Wit De Churen VII: Lil’ Myron’s Trade, with accompanying drawings. Linzy mobilizes televisual tropes to unpack established systems of gender, race and sexuality through mediated performances of comedic personae. His drawings hark back to the 1920s, invoking both music hall motifs and racist folk imagery.

Kalup Linzy lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. The Studio Museum in Harlem held the first museum survey of his work; ‘Kalup Linzy: If it Don’t Fit’ in 2009. He has exhibited solo at The Moore Space, Miami (2008), Taxter & Spengemann, New York (2005, 6 & 7), and P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center, Long Island City (2006), and recently participated in the New Orleans Biennial, curated by Dan Cameron. His screenings/performances have been held globally at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, NY, and the British Film Institute, London.
